Frequently,
certified historical buildings (often commercial) in downtown
districts are renovated into "loft"; residential buildings.
They are either converted into condominiums or held for rental
properties. In either case, the architect and developer need
the maximum flexibility to design enough units to make the
investment worth the risk. In this regard, vent-less laundry
allows the designer more flexibility that worrying about having
dryer vents run short distances to outside walls. If adding
220 volt dryers to each unit is not a cost or design constraint,
then the Bosch separate washer and 220-volt dryer may be installed.
If adding electrical into each unit is a problem, then the
combination washer/dryers that operate on 110 volts, can be
employed. In the current market place, most renters want laundry
in their unit, and this is a requirement for condos. However,
the size of the layout must determine the size of the combination
machine selected for installation. The "dishwasher-size";
combinations serve only 1 or 2 people. The larger LG
machine, can serve 3 or 4 people. For the largest layouts,
the separate Bosch washers and dryers must be employed. For
uniformity sake, the Bosch separate machines could be installed
in each unit regardless of square feet. Oasis Appliance has
a "work-around"; for the cost-conscious developer who wants
to install the less expensive/smaller model in each unit.

If the 110-volt machines are used throughout, and the electrical
service does not have to be increased from the local electrical
utility, time and much money will be saved. Since these machines
operate without vents, the savings from running ducts will
further multiply the savings.
